Roof waterproofing is dry-season work with a monsoon deadline. Coatings need a dry slab to bond and unhurried days to cure; the monsoon supplies neither. The owners who act in the dry months buy repair — the ones who call during the first downpour buy triage.
Why the calendar is strict
- Bond: coating a damp slab traps moisture beneath the film, which lifts it — the failure then gets blamed on the product.
- Cure: systems need their full cure before the first soaking; rain inside that window streaks and weakens the film.
- Proof: finishing well before the rains leaves time to water-test and correct calmly, instead of discovering the missed spot live.
The pre-monsoon inspection
One hour on the roof in the dry season answers most of it:
- Clear every drain mouth and watch that water actually reaches them.
- Walk the slab for cracks and note where they cluster — the causes guide tells you what each pattern means.
- Check the parapet junction line and every pipe or rail penetration.
- Press old coating at its blisters; anything that flakes is already finished.
- Below: look for last year's stains on top-floor ceilings — they mark where this year starts.
Findings decide the work: a sound roof needs housekeeping; a cracked or stained one needs the full sequence, booked while the season is still on your side.
If the monsoon has already arrived
Honesty first: full waterproofing in the rains is compromised work. What is genuinely worth doing mid-season — clearing blocked drains, temporary protection over an active entry, catching and containing inside — limits damage. The lasting repair is then scheduled for the first dry window, done properly once instead of badly twice. We will say exactly this if you call us in July; it is cheaper advice than a coating that fails by August.
