Waterproofing comes in three physical forms: liquids you apply, sheets you lay, and admixtures you mix into the concrete itself. They are not competing brands but different moments of intervention — during construction, on the finished surface, or in the material. The job's stage and geometry pick the form.
The three forms
Liquid-applied coatings
Brush, roller or trowel applied; cure into a seamless film following every curve, corner and penetration. Their strength is conformity — no joints, no welds, details handled by the same material turning the corner (why details decide roofs). Their dependency is the surface: preparation and cure conditions are the whole game. This is the form most repair and most Indian roof work uses — our Building Guard 400 is this form.
Sheet membranes
Factory-made rolls — consistent thickness by manufacture, not by hand. Their strength is uniformity over big simple areas; their weakness is every joint, overlap and upstand, which is where membrane systems fail when they fail. They suit large regular decks and engineered podium work with skilled installation crews.
Admixtures
Chemistry added at the mixer so the concrete resists water through its body. Strength: protection from birth, everywhere, including places no one can ever reach again. Limit: only available at construction time, and never a licence to skip surface protection on exposed slabs (where each family fits).

Frequently asked questions
Is membrane "stronger" than liquid?
Thicker by manufacture, yes; stronger as a system only if its joints and upstands are executed perfectly. A seamless liquid film with good preparation beats a badly-lapped membrane every monsoon.
Can liquid coat over an old membrane?
Compatibility and condition govern — sound, clean, compatible: sometimes. Lifting or blistered membrane comes off first, as any failing layer does.
